KublaCon 2002
Painting Contest
May 24-27
The painting contest at KublaCon was bigger than ever this year! There were a number of entries and the level of competition was high. A shadowy organization known only as the "Inner Circle" made off with most of the top honors, and many of these mysterious individuals are even now planning their take over of the Con-Quest Painting Contest. In the end, it was Inner Circle member Dan Roberts that walked away with the KublaCon Sword for Best of Show. Despite a few minor mishaps, KublaCon is quickly shaping up to be a major annual showing of Bay Area painting talent. This year, I got to take all of the official contest photos. I brought in lights with GE Reveal tm bulbs, and got some really good images. In some ways, I feel like I was the luckiest participant in this event, because not even the judges got to see all of the entries under proper lighting! Conspicuously absent from this event were CJ Cummings and Laszlo Jakusovszky, but rumor says that it is due to both individuals slaving away over Golden Demon entries for this year's new Chicago Games Day. Anyway, on to the winners...
